As Japan’s most renowned and sacred mountain, Mt. Fuji has long been believed to embody the purest energies of heaven and earth. Where the earth forms the mother of qi, a high mountain gathers it in great abundance.

Because Mt. Fuji is the tallest mountain in Japan, its airflow extends along the northern foothills like a dragon vein, flowing north and then east toward Tokyo’s historic Edo Castle. For this reason, the Japanese have traditionally viewed Mt. Fuji as a powerful feng-shui site where fortunes may rise.

Hakkai Konohanakan, nestled at the foot of Mt. Fuji, is blessed to lie precisely along this dragon vein.
It stands within Oshino Village—celebrated for longevity—and offers sweeping views of Mt. Fuji right from your window.
We believe this place will bring you a unique sense of good fortune.

Speaking of “Hakkai Konohanakan,” its name is deeply tied to the guardian deity of Mt. Fuji.
Legend tells of Princess Konohanasakuya-hime, a goddess born from the blossoms of the cherry tree.
Exquisitely beautiful yet noble and strong like Mt. Fuji itself, she governs blessings of fire protection, safe childbirth, fertility, agriculture, fishing, weaving, brewing, and maritime safety, watching over the people.

With reverence, we visited the local Sengen Shrine that enshrines the princess and sought its guidance.
The shrine bestowed upon us the name “Hakkai Konohanakan,” meaning a place blessed by the divine.

Where beauty resides, beauty gathers.
Just step outside Hakkai Konohanakan, and with warm sunlight and gentle breezes at your side,
a short walk along Lake Yamanaka will lead you to the famous Oshino Hakkai Village—known for its longevity and the pristine spring water that flows from the underground streams of Mt. Fuji.
Here, fresh air drifts through cherry blossoms falling over clear streams. Wooden houses, waterwheels, and ponds filled with shimmering koi create a serene, timeless landscape.
In the deep blue spring pools, one almost feels the presence of ancient ascetics reflected in the water.

These sacred springs—source of life—have nourished the forests, sustained local wildlife, and quietly purified all living spirits.
A truly beautiful journey is not only about gentle sunshine, soft breezes, and drifting clouds—but also about the eyes that recognize beauty, and the heart that finds healing along the way.
